Colon

Fiber colon cleanse

Fiber colon cleanse involves use of plant fibers for colon cleaning. There are two main types of plant fibers

–          Soluble fibers
–          Insoluble fibers

Soluble fibers absorb water as they pass through the bowel and thus, help with constipation. Furthermore, they lubricate colon lining and help maintain healthy bowel movement. Insoluble fibers scrape colon lining from excess fats which in extreme cases can block the nutrient absorption completely.

It is absolutely essential for any colon cleanse diet to include plant fibers. You can’t have normal bowel function without plant fibers.

Herbal colon cleanse

Herbal colon cleanse involves use of various herbs for both colon cleanse as well as detox and laxation. And here things get complicated. In a way, fiber colon cleanse can be considered to also be a herbal colon cleanse. Apart from being source of fibers, some herbs also have laxative and detoxification properties. Herbs that are used most for herbal colon cleanse include fennel seed, psyllium husks, cascara sagrada, ginger, golden seal, pumpkin seed, buckthorne root, licorice root, rhubarb, citrus pectin, acidophilus, cape aloe, bentonite clay, aloe vera, cayenne paper, senna, oat bran, prune juice and flax seed oil.

As said before, as well as being source of plant fibers for colon cleanse, most of these herbs have pronounced body and/or liver detox properties while other have laxative properties. They are most effective when combined together.

Colon cleansing

Colon cleansing is in fact colon hydrotherapy. It is also known as a colonic or colonic irrigation. It involves washing the colon with water and/or other liquids to clean the walls of the big colon. We wouldn’t recommend it because it might have many adverse side effects. These side effects are

–          Bowel damage or even infection caused by improper preparation and instrument used.
–          Electrolyte imbalance which can lead to heart attack.
–          And worst of all, enema dependency which is too grose to even think about it, let alone to disqus.

So, the colon cleansing is something you should definitely avoid.

And there you have it! I hope that you find the informations about colon cleanse useful and that you can now differentiate between various types and find the one that’s most suited for you.
